Transfer of blogs written in anticipation of twins birth!

Below is copies of a blog I had started in anticipation of the twins birth. That blog sponsor is closing and I want to preserve those thoughts so I am transferring them to this blog. All are dated and I will put the oldest ones first.

Proscrastination
Okay, I know I've been procrastinating writing in this journal, I signed up for it in March and here it is July 2nd. I've been meaning to, but tomorrow seems like the better time. BUT tomorrow never comes because I keep putting it off again and again.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO............... I decided tonight if I am going to be able to share my thoughts and experiences completely I guess I had better start. I cannot believe how time has a way of fleeing, where did the last 4 or 5 months go. Seems like just yesterday, I was trying to grasp the idea of being a grandma, and here as we look ahead... delivery day is only about 4 months or less away. Guess I better hurry up and do some catching up on my journey to Grandparenthood!!!!

AM I OLD ENOUGH TO BE A GRANDMA?
Grandparenthood............huh...............doesn't seem like I'm just old enough, now does it?It was on a cold February 2006 Sunday morning at 7AM, when the phone rang early. Now you know when the phone rings that early it's cause for a bit concern! I answered in a hurry with a tad of fear in my heart, to hear a voice on the other end of that of our oldest daughter, Angela. She says, "Ma, I"M PREGNANT!" And then she starts crying! Here I am half asleep, not knowing what to expect on the other end, scared stiff as to WHY someone would have to call me that early!
She had taken one of those home pregnancy tests and it came up with a positive result. She was so excited she couldn't stop crying. I wanted to run and give her a hug, but then I thought..............AM I OLD ENOUGH TO BE A GRANDMA?
The truth is....................YES, I'm old enough! I'm just in denial that I have kids old enough to make me a grandma! When I got over the shock and acceptance of the reality of facing grandparenthood, I was thrilled. But suddenly I began thinking, OH.....what if the test is wrong and she is not pregnant, how can she (we) deal with the disappointment??? For her sake, I told her to wait until she had the blood test done to trust the results. I think she must have taken a half dozen home tests between that morning and the time she got the blood test results early that week. Sure enough..... the results were POSITIVE! She would become a mommy and me a GRANDMA!!!!

What an AWESOME MOMENT
The day arrived when Angela was to have her first ultrasound. Upon arriving in the office, the doctor promptly asked how the new mommy was feeling, as to which she replied with "very naseasous and queasy." Meanwhile the doctor was preparing the machine to conduct the ultrasound.
Angela reclines on the table and as Ryan and I are eagerly are awaiting the "REAL" confirmation of this event! The doctor starts his Doppler thingy over her belly and very intently is examining the screen, Ryan and I are just looking on as if we too were examining it. He calmly declares in a mild nonchalantly way, "No wonder you are feeling so ill, you have TWINS!"
At first, I wasn't sure what he said, and I don't think Angela did either, so she said "WHAT?" He repeated.......YOU HAVE TWINS! Angela was so completely elated, Twins.......twins.....twins .....she kept repeating. I was frozen stiff and couldn't move or say a word as tears began to fill my eyes that were fixed on the ultrasound screen. Ryan starts pacing with tears coming to him also! I to this day remember being in such a state of "WOW, is this really true!" I couldn't move, I think it was a combinations of "HOW AWESOME, and ISN'T GOD SO WONDERFUL!
As we left the doctors office, Ryan went his own way back to work and Angela and I left in one vehicle, we sat in the car as Ang made her phone calls to spread the "NEW!" She called a few people, but I remember her calling her dad at work, and her Aunt Holly! Angela then dropped me off at home and was on her way back to her job. I still in a state of shock, continued on my way to work, thinking.......Okay not ONE but TWO grand babies! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

12:23:30 AM EDT TWO GIRLS.......TWO BOYS......OR ONE OF EACH????
Last Wednesday, Angela was now 21 weeks along in her pregnancy and it was time to find out ......is it two girls, two boys or one of each???
Of course, mom was along for the determining of the sexes. The doctor examines baby A - and declares, "this is a GIRL!" Then goes on to examine baby B and says "this is a BOY!" WOW........God is really so good, isn't HE???? Now we can start SHOPPING!!!!
I was dying on vacation to buy some cute little outfits while we were in Florida. Afraid to purchase too much of the wrong sexes clothing, I have to say I was GOOD! Though I did pick up a few for each of the sexes, so now they can all be used!
Okay so now it's on for name picking.....stay tuned and I'll tell you next time what names are in the hat for this little boy and little girl who are to make me a GRANDMA!!!

Names?????
Well Angela is now 24 weeks along in her pregnancy and doing very well. Though the doctor put her on a 32 hour work week, which by the way, she loves going home at 2:30PM. She is feeling fairly well, a little indigestion and swelling of the ankles but not much of anything else, as far as I know. She's feeling those two little rascals more and more these days, she said Kristen even got to feel them move by just having her hand on her belly the other day.
Sooooooo anyway we had a huge Birthday party the other day July 15th for the expecting mom. Hard to believe my baby is 30 years old! Where did all the years go???? We had a big picnic party here with most of her friends, (a few couldn't make it), and family and other friends. There was food.....food.....food, and more food, swimming, laughing, karoke, cake, presents , and oh and did I say FOOD? I think she was well pleased as well as exhausted when the the day was said and done. Then on Monday night we all went out to dinner (on her actual B'day) to Olive Garden!
Oh I did say I'd mention......NAMES.........well if it was two girls, it was to be Jenna and Alysa and if it were two boys, Joshua and Shane, BUT SINCE IT IS ONE OF EACH..............Jenna and Joshua! Isn't that too cute??? I just love it! And I cannot wait to actually see them, hold them, love them and yesssssssssssss worry about them too! We the grandparents on both sides decided to buy them their beds, so Donna and Norm already went to pick them up and are waitng for mommy and daddy to get their room painted and ready for them to be put together. I cannot believe they will be here in less than three months. I also went with her last week to Babiesrus to help her finalize he registry, someone already purchased her two bouncy seats and had them delivered today! It's hard not to buy outfits when shopping, they are all so cute, I got a zillion of them already and I am sure she'll receive many too. Those two rascals won't even get to wear them before they outgrow them. We'll just have to change the outfits when their diapers get changed.! HA! I'm not the one doing laundry......LOL!
Well guess that's it for now, gotta chat with the mommy now of some of my bright ideas on room themes!!!!!! I am talking with her right now on instant messaging, and she's telling me she thought ofit too here's the instant message:

UT OHHHHHHHHHH............Shopping AGAIN!!!!
Yup I did it again...........I went shopping! I told myself I was just gonna L@@K! Ha! Who do I think I am kidding, Kris and I stopped in at Kohls tonight, my favorite baby shopping store! I was just gonna look at the clearance racks to see if there was anything that was a good deal! Like the two Christmas sleepers I got when Angela first found out about her pregnancy. I mean come on now 75% off is a "GREAT DEAL!" And Jenna and Joshua already have their First Christmas outfits! As I wandered through the store stopping first in the ladies department I found myself a nice cool looking tank top and just beyond the ladies department is the "BABY DEPARTMENT!" I looked at some of the newborn outfits as I quickly made my way to those "clearance" racks. Nah, nothing here worth getting, BUT I do want to buy their coming home outfits so I wandered back to those newborn sleepers I saw earlier. Okay, I'm just going to get one for each of them. Now I know I'm not the mommy of these two, BUT I am the grandmommy of them. OOOO I said it again, that sound so weird! But as I was saying, Angela will make the final decision on their coming home outfits, and by all means she should! BUT if I were to make the choice I bought a cute little lavender and white sleeper with lavender bows and a white sleeper with little bunnies, choo-choo's etc for them. Yes, silly, Jenna gets the lavender one with the bows!!!!!
Kris and I saw a couple of little girls tonight out in the stores with their grandma's and I said to Kris, "hey Kris just think Jenna will be that big in just a couple of years only with curly hair!" Kris said maybe not curly, but it has to be curly with the family history and both mommy and daddy having curly hair, these two rascals cannot escape the trait. We already decided they wouldn't have blue eyes since mommy and daddy both have dark eyes. Blue eyes I believe have to be recessive, meaning one parent must have blue eyes. I do know one thing these two babies are going to be the most beautiful that I've seen in a long time! All babies are beautful though, these are just going to be special cause their my GRANDBABIES!
Calling them GRANDBABIES don't sound as bad as calling me GRANDMA! HUH.....................Wonder why that is???

Jenna and Josh's Arrival is quickly approaching!!!!
Here we are into August already, the summer is quickly coming to an end. Hard to believe the fall will be upon soon. We've just survived our second heat wave of the season, and along with that a quick trip to the hospital with the mommy-to-be. It was a scorching day on Monday and Ang calls me at work to tell me the DR. wants her to go up to the hospital for a "labor check..." LABOR CHECK" I quickly replied. She hadn't been feeling right and was having contractions. This was not good for only being in her 26th week of pregnancy. So we go up there and they do their normal routine checks, and come to a conclusion that this mommy -to- be is dehydrated! Of course they want to give her a jump start on hydration with a bottle of IV, BUT her veins wouldn't cooperate so they would not let her leave until she guzzled 4 glasses of water. Thankfully she was not in LABOR, and the cuties were looking GOOD! Both Dr. and nurses commented on how healtly they both looked and had good strong heatbeats. Whew, hang on Jenna and Josh for at least 8-10 more weeks, then we'll spoil you rotten. At Ang's ultrasound today the Dr. measured them both at 2 lbs 1 oz each, which is very good, they are both growing equally the same.
I have another problem: I can't stay out of the babies department in the stores. I did resist buying them any more clothes today, but had to buy them two little books. Have to start the collection for the basket at the shower. Oh yeah, I finally decided on where and when to have the baby shower, so I got the invitations out this week too. Doesn't seem possible that this is soon coming to be reality, everyone is excited about the big day of their arrival. Dad (great-grandpa) is also excited, he mentioned recently how it's gonna really be something having twins and two little ones running around. He's gonna be so proud, only if great-grandma were here to see them, she'd be so happy and proud. She'll just have to be their guardian angel while up there in heaven. Hard to believe her baby is soon to be a "grandma" huh????

At 21 I became a MOTHER......at something "1," I will become a GRANDMA!!!!
It dawned on me the other day......at 21 I became a mother, and now so many years later, I will enter a new phase of my life called " Grandma-hood." I can't even say that number, of which I became this year, but if you read the previous journal entries you can figure it out! Ha! This is all hitting home toooo hard, am I really that old? Just having celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary today, really makes it hit home. (of course, I was a child bride, I really was!) Anyway old or not, I am sure going to enjoy those two little ones getting ready to enter this world. Everyday it seems that the reality of it, is becoming more and more real and apparent! It also seems like we are already talking about Jenna and Joshua as if they were already here. Last night I did some bargain hunting, (I'm really good at that), and Josh got to be the lucky one last night. I got him three little outfits, and some bibs. Usually it's the little girly stuff that hits my eye first, but last night it was Josh's turn. But I keep telling myself, okay enough of the 0-3 mos. size, we have to move on to larger sizes! But that little stuff is so CUTE!!!! A friend of mine stopped by yesterday with her daughter and 5 week old granddaughter! How tiny and she was almost 9 pounds already, what a cutie she was! Kris got to hold her too, and now says she's anxious for Jenna and Josh's arrival too! Guess it's a good thing that they'll be two of them, we won't have to fight to hold them. They'll be two to pass around!!!!

Baby Shower Time
The rush is on, just three days till the baby shower...at least I took tomorrow off of work! Tonight I was wrapping up stuff and the reality of these two little munchkins arrival just seems to get more real with each and every day. Looking at all the stuff I purchased, you'd think I was getting ready to give birth to these little ones. I don't think I bought as much stuff before my own babies arrivals as I did for my first grandchildren.
OKAY.....OKAY.....I am a bit excited, I can't help it! My first baby is having her first babies..... She can't do it the easier way.....one at a time....she has to have two! I think she is starting to worry that she's gonna be chopped liver when these babies are finally here. Here's part of a conversation we had over IM:
HEYANG1776: am I gonna be chopped liver when they are born?Demay11: just give me my babiesHEYANG1776: I think I am gonna be thrown by the wayside when these babies comeHEYANG1776: now I am so spoiled and taken care ofDemay11: only when I get tired their yoursHEYANG1776: but I thinks its only because people want my babiesDemay11: LOLHEYANG1776: lolDemay11: yupDemay11: 8-)HEYANG1776: thats why being a grandmaHEYANG1776: is greatHEYANG1776: u can mother them but when u get tired or they are fresh they can go right backDemay11: send them home when their bad
That is what all my friends who have already become grandmothers have said. Enjoy them and then send them home! So we'll just have to see. But one thing is certain, "ONCE A MOTHER, ALWAYS A MOTHER! I will always love my Angela, and my love will extend to her babies as well. And guess what, I know there is even a big stash of love left for the grandbabies still to come as the Lord blesses, as well as the other three babies GOD gave to me. YES.....LISA, JON and KRISTEN.....there is still lots of love left in there for you!
Well, I did take tomorrow off of work so I can shop and start preparing food for the event taking place on Sunday, August 27th. It's going to be a couple of busy days, pulling it all together. I guess my next entry will recap the events of the day!

4:15:03 PM EST Feeling Frustrated Hearing NONE
WOW.....Babies are almost 4 Months Old
Okay, this is my second attempt at this entry. I just had one, a loooooong one too, when I was ready to add, I lost it! Arghhhhh!!!!! Anyway, I'll try it one more time!
Joshua and Jenna were born on October 11, 2006 at 10:30 and 10:31 AM, Josh weighed in a 5 lbs. 5 oz. and I believe 19 inches long. Jenna born second, weighed in at a little itty bitty 3 lbs. 13 oz, what a tiny little girl she was. But we do thank the Lord for their being born so healthy. Jenna only stayed one extra day in the hospital due to her tiny size and not being able to maintain her body temperature. The mommy did great thru the Ceasarean section, and was as happy as can be, while the daddy was walking three feet off the ground when he came out to the hospitals maternity waiting room to greet us grandparents eagerly waiting. The first days at home went very well, I stayed over to help out and help the new little family adjust to a four person household instead of two.
Joshua and Jenna will be 4 months old tomorrow and are schedule for their 4 month old checkup with the pediatrician this week also. They had their first shots at their two month check up, which by the way hurt grandma more than them. They did real well with them and weighed in at that appointment with Josh being 10 lbs. 2 oz. and Jenna 8 lbs. 12 oz. I'd say they did well in 8 weeks, almost doubling and tripling their weights.
Well Angela returned work the first of the year and both grandma's get to watch/play with babies two days a weeks each. What little dolls, and they are such good little babies too. When I first heard it was going to be twins I could help but wonder how in the world do you feed two infants at once. But they are so good, they are so patient of one another, if you are feeding one, the other will usually wait very patiently. Josh and I had a discussion on the topic just the other day. Jenna woke up before him for her afternoon feeding and while I was feeding her he decided his little tummy was getting hungry too. So as I was feeding his little sister he started fussing as I assurd him his turn was next, he listen intently as if he totally understood was I was saying to him. He remained very calm and chattered to me as if he was saying. " yes I do understand but do you understand grammy, MY TUMMY IS HUNGRY TOO!" He became more aggressive in trying to convince me it was NOW his turn with his fussing, but he NEVER got to the point of crying like he was gonna die if he weren't fed soon. What a cutie! Jenna is our little smiling baby, she is always ready with a smile and especially like smiling for his papa D. She must think he's funny or something, she's started the giggling now too, its so funny she'll giggle and a sharp little sound will come out and she'll startle herself, it's so hilarious!
Well I'm going to try to post some pictures to get this journal up to date and I will try to be more diligent in keeping up with it. After all the twins will grow up and I'll have nothing to go back and read remembering these precious moments. Wish me luck!

11:58:18 PM EST Feeling Happy Hearing A nice quiet house............ Edit Entry Delete Entry
I just LOVE my babies!!!!
Today I had my little Josh and Jenna, they are just the most adorable little babies you've ever seen! Can you tell??? I'm just gonna go on and on about how cute, beautiful they really really are! OKAY, I'm a doting gramma, I just cannot help it! I have the right!!!
They are just growing so quickly, they respond to their names now, it's so funny, you call their name and they'll turn right to you. Joshy wants to talk in such a bad way, he'll just start babbling to you with the most adorable facial expressions. His beautiful deep blue eyes with the long eye lashes are just stunning! Where little Miss Jenna is the "get up and wanna go" little one. She is just wanting to sit up, stand up and run quickly getting fustrated when she realizes hey I can't do that yet. She looks at you with her intense determination like she were saying, "hey, can you help me over here?" She too is a little doll, I know I am partial but these are two beautiful babies! They are so good too, content with where you put them, they help me do chores around, watching and approving and only disaproving when they want some gramma "hugs." Which of course, gramma loves to give. I had Joshy giggling today pretending I was eating him up, and then giving him rasberries. Jenna girl, giggles when you just talk to her and amuse her that way. They both love this little learning bunny I bought them, it sings number games, and tells about his physical features. It's so cute if you turn it upside down it giggles and says "I'm upside down, this is fun." And then when you turn it right side up it says, "I'm right side up and ready to play." We've read books together, and believe it or not even gramma's singing to them. We played Pat A Cake, Pat A Cake today too! How they just observe and take everything in!
They also started their cereal this week, Josh loved it from the start, but it took Jenna a couple of days to get the hang of it, and now she too loves it. They've also graduated to their own beds (cribs) at night now, since they were waking each other up at night whacking each other in the portable crib. I heard it was a big adjustment for mommy and daddy too! I remember those days, the separation is almost unbearable.
Well I'm gonna try and add some pics of my two adorable babies! Hope you enjoy them!

5:34:59 PM EDT Feeling Quiet
Has it REALLY Been A Year Already?
Seems incedible that a whole year has passed since becoming the "grandma" of two beautiful babies. Yes, Joshua and Jenna are one year old! And what little characters they are, and sweet little babies they certainly are! Joshua is taking steps alone, but resorts to falling on his little butt and crawl to his destination cause it's faster and safer. While Jenna is still timid on the fact of letting go, she'll walk holding on to things with no problem, but don't leave her without a crutch cause she'll just plop down and crawl. My favorite time of day with them is sitting them in their chairs in the morning for breakfast, they just love feeding themselves Cheerios, I give them little bites of banana fed with the spoon cause it I give it to them to feed themsleves it becomes mashed banana all over the place instead of the mouth. We've tried scrambled eggs too, but doesn't seem to be a favorite of theirs for the moment. Jenna likes it better than Joshua, but we're experimenting with different foods to see what they like best. So far, I have to say, that Cheerios wins for the time being. Also at that time, they just love playing with each other, stealing each others toys across the high chair trays. Smiling at each other, or just mesmerized by the others movements. The intereaction is so cute to watch. I can't wait till they are actually chatting with each other.
Speaking of chatting, they both have been saying "UT OH!" for a while now. They love trying to repeat what is said to them. Josh also tries to say "hi" when someone comes into the room. Jenna babbles alot with that little girl excitement and giggle. She is so funny how she just wants to hold on to you when you are trying to put her down whether or not it's the walkers or the playpen. She will not let go, holding on for dear life! They both love running up and down the hallway in their walkers but getting fustrated when they get stuck on each others wheels. Joshua is so cute when putting him down for his nap time, I'll lay him down and as that is occurring he just whimpers and makes this sad face like "no, I don't wanna sleep." Meanwhile, he is dead tired, and falls asleep in just a few moments listening to Tad's lullabyes. Sometimes he just will look me in the face as I say "night night" and doesn't express a thing and goes off to sleep. He's a good napper too, while Miss Jenna girl is a light sleeper, hearing everything and anything. She sleep so briefly, I wonder how she makes it thru the day without sleeping for any real length of time.
One of their favorite toys is a "cell phone," they just love any little gadget like the remote, cell phone of regular phone. They even had their first little quarrel over grandma's cell phone and I even got a picture of it.
We had their first Birthday Party on the 13th, and they were just the most adorable little "ONE" year olds you've ever seen. And believe me they loved eating Birthday Cake. getting it all over the place. There were lots of family and relatives there to celebrate the "BIG" occasion.
Well as the next year [progresses I'll try to be more faithful in writing down in this journal they're second year as it happens. It's so hard sometimes to just put all your thoughts down into words, and yah.....there's a little bit of laziness to admit to too!

Well there it is and now in just a little over a week we will be celebrating Joshua and Jenna's 2nd Birthday! And don't let me kid you, they are still and even moreso the best and most beautiful babies (toddlers) in the world. And the most polite too....they say, "thank you," welcome," bless you," etc! Smart little cookies too! More on them later, I'm gonna go ahead and hit post before I lose all this! Stay tuned for more "gramma" talk!
